Domain Names
Presenting a Professional Business Image
As a business owner you really need to consider purchasing a Domain Name to appear as a professional and credible business. In the past small business owners often started out with free web hosting provided by their internet service provider (Shaw, Telus) or through one of the free web hosting sites (GeoCities, Angelfire), giving you a URL of something like http://www.members.shaw.ca/webcrosser. Also when starting out, new business owners have a tendency to use their personal email address provided through their internet service provider or use a free email address service, john_doe68@hotmail.com is less appealing as your own Domain email address like info@webcrosser.com, the email address even helps out with finding your website.
Purchasing a Domain Name will mask these issues, but will not fix the problems associated with the webhosting aspect of it (see webhosting page). We are all on a tight budget when starting a new business but a Domain Name is one of the things that should not be scrimped on. Registering a Domain Name is so economical now, there is no excuse for not securing a Domain Name for your business right from the start. It is not uncommon these days to have more than one Domain Name pointing to the same website.
Not ready for a website yet, no problem. You can still purchase a Domain Name and we will provide you with a Domain Name email address to use. As long as you keep paying the yearly fee for this Domain Name, your email address never needs to change again. How many times in the past have you changed ISP's or even free email services, only to have to let everyone know what your new email address is all over again. Not to mention all the websites you have used the email address on for contact information. Doing business with an email address such as john_doe68@hotmail.com does not lend itself to being a professional or credible business plan.
